Mull MacGillivray Genealogy

We all have stories to tell, but it all starts with knowing where we came from, what our ancestors did to allow us a better life than they had, the sacrifices they made. So let's start creating those journey's here, together, as ancestors of the MacGillivray's of Mull.

Malcolm MacGillivray was born in Ardalanish, Isle of Mull, around 1795. He was married to Catherine Campbell on March 29th 1825. Below is their direct family including marriages that are verified so far. 

One of their children, Christina MacGillivray, married Donald McKinnon and emigrated to New Zealand aboard the Peter Denny, on 24 AUgust 1875 bound for Canterbury.

The photo below is of Shiaba, where some of the family lived in 1851. This family forms a part of the story in  Echoes of the Clearances.

Christina MacGillivray and Donald Mckinnon were married  in Clyde, Scotland on 29 November 1870. The emigrated to New Zealand on board the Peter Denny, 24 August 1875 sailing from Clyde to Otago.
